Frequently Asked Questions
Most fence installations in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County require a permit. The permitting authority depends on whether your property falls within city limits or unincorporated county land. All standard fence materials including wood, vinyl, aluminum, and chain link require permits. Pool enclosure fences and powered gate systems have additional requirements. Palm Beach County permitting covers every standard material, and canal or waterway properties often need SFWMD review on top of that. We handle all of it. Your local Superior Fence & Rail team will confirm what your project requires.
Florida's statewide pool barrier code requires all residential pools in West Palm Beach to be completely enclosed by a barrier at least 4 feet tall. No opening may allow a 4-inch sphere through, and gates must be self-closing and self-latching, opening away from the pool. Pool fence permits and mandatory inspections are required before pool use. Pool barrier compliance is one of the most important fence projects we do for families in this market. Our team handles all pool fence permitting as part of every installation.
If your property borders a canal, the Intracoastal Waterway, or any waterway managed by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), you may need a Right-of-Way permit from the SFWMD in addition to the standard city or county building permit. The SFWMD has jurisdiction over development near its canals throughout Palm Beach County because fences can break free in storms and dam canals, causing upstream flooding. The SFWMD ROW permit has no fee for single-family homeowners. Our team handles this permitting process for canal-adjacent properties throughout Palm Beach County.
West Palm Beach falls within the 140 to 150 mph design wind speed range, and properties near Lake Mangonia or the Intracoastal face Exposure Category C wind conditions where speeds accelerate. Deep-set concrete footings and drainage around posts are essential given the area's shifting sandy soil. Aluminum with marine-grade fasteners is the top choice for durability. Vinyl is popular for privacy fencing. Open-design fences perform significantly better in hurricane conditions than solid privacy panels. Our team builds to Florida Building Code wind standards on every project in Palm Beach County.
West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County are heavily HOA-governed. Communities throughout Wellington, Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Worth Beach, and Boca Raton have architectural guidelines specifying approved fence materials, heights, colors, and styles. Many Palm Beach County HOAs require approval before any city permit application can even be submitted. Getting written HOA architectural committee approval first is the essential step, non-compliant installations face mandatory removal at full homeowner expense. Your local Superior Fence & Rail team can help you prepare everything needed for HOA submission.

West Palm Beach Fence Company
Professional care, trusted expertise, and materials designed for longevity
Nobody wakes up excited to call a fence company. Usually it’s a broken board, a letter from the HOA, or the dog finding a new exit through the old panels. By the time you’re making calls, you want someone who shows up on time, does clean work, and doesn’t require three voicemails to get an update. Superior Fence & Rail operates as a fence company in West Palm Beach built around that expectation, not just close to it.
Our team knows this area, and the materials we carry are chosen for how they hold up here specifically, not just how they look in a product catalog.
Fence Company Near Me in West Palm Beach
Spend enough time in this city and you start noticing fences the way you notice potholes. The aluminum picket running along a pool deck in Palm Beach Lakes. The white vinyl panels lining the back of a lot in Grandview Heights. The wood privacy fence a homeowner in Old Northwood put up to reclaim their backyard from a busy cross street. We’ve installed a lot of those fences. Our crews move through Flamingo Park, El Cid, SoSo, Pineapple Park, and Northwood on a regular basis, and we’re out just as often in the surrounding communities. Riviera Beach to the north, Lake Worth and Greenacres to the south, North Palm Beach when the project calls for it. The point isn’t that we cover a lot of ground. It’s that we know what properties in these neighborhoods actually look like, what the HOA covenants tend to require, and what materials make sense when your yard backs up to a canal or sits half a block from the Intracoastal.
West Palm Beach Fence Contractor
Salt air is a real problem for fencing near the Intracoastal. Uncoated metals don’t last long when you’re a few blocks from the water. The sandy soil throughout much of the Palm Beach area also means post installation isn’t as simple as it looks; depth and concrete mix both matter more than people expect. Hiring a fence contractor in West Palm Beach who has dealt with these conditions is important.
HOAs in communities like Palm Beach Lakes and the gated developments west of Military Trail tend to have specific requirements around height, color, and material type. We’ve worked with those kinds of restrictions before. Our crews understand what certain HOA review boards are looking for, which cuts down on the back-and-forth that stalls a lot of projects in this area.
West Palm Beach Fence Builder
Every project starts with a site visit. Someone comes out, walks the property with you, takes measurements, and actually listens to what you’re trying to solve, because a privacy fence for a corner lot in Flamingo Park is a completely different conversation than a pool enclosure in a newer development south of Forest Hill Boulevard. From there we put together a detailed estimate and get your project scheduled. We keep materials in stock so there’s no waiting on orders before work can begin.
West Palm Beach Fence Installation
Here’s something most homeowners don’t think to ask about: what does the crew do before the first post goes in? Our fence installation process accounts for utility line locations, property line verification, and having every material on the truck before the crew arrives. That prep work is what keeps a one-day job from turning into three.
On the job itself, the crew works clean. Your yard gets left in reasonable shape each day, not treated like a staging area. And if something unexpected turns up, a buried irrigation line running along the fence line, or soft ground near a drainage swale, you get a call. Not a surprise on the final invoice.
West Palm Beach Fence Financing
A fence project can run several thousand dollars depending on materials and linear footage, and paying that all at once isn’t always realistic. Our fence financing options give you a way to move forward without waiting until the timing is perfect. Reach out and we’ll walk you through what’s currently available.
West Palm Beach Fencing Options
Vinyl is the go-to for a lot of HOA communities here because it holds up in humidity, doesn’t need painting, and comes in profiles that meet most style requirements. Aluminum works well around pools. The open picket design handles most code requirements for pool barriers, and the powder-coated finish resists the kind of corrosion that eats through untreated iron near salt air. Wood stays popular in older residential pockets like Old Northwood and Pineapple Park where the feel of the material fits the homes. In South Florida’s moisture levels, pressure-treated pine generally outlasts cedar over the long run, though cedar is still a reasonable pick when the look matters more than pure longevity.
Beyond those, we install chain link for commercial and high-use properties, dog fences sized around actual containment needs, and gates and entry systems ranging from simple swing gates to more involved entry setups. Take a look at our fence styles page to see the full range and figure out what makes sense for your property.
Superior Fence & Rail Wants to Be Your West Palm Beach Fence Installation Contractor
Palm Beach County has plenty of fence companies, and you probably already know that. What we’d ask you to consider is how the job actually goes. Whether the crew shows when they say they will, whether the materials hold up two summers from now, whether someone answers when you call with a question. That’s where the difference shows. We know this city’s neighborhoods, the HOA quirks in communities from SoSo to Palm Beach Lakes, and the conditions that separate a fence that lasts from one that doesn’t.
