  • Privacy Fence Denver

Privacy fencing is common in Denver's newer subdivisions, giving homeowners a clear buffer against both neighbors and mountain wind. It holds up well through high-altitude sun, heavy snow, and rapid temperature swings while still doing its main job of blocking the view.

    Learn More >
  • Semi Privacy Denver

Semi-privacy fencing suits Denver yards that want a boundary without blocking mountain views or catching too much wind resistance. The gaps keep air moving even when high-altitude sun, heavy snow, and rapid temperature swings makes a solid wall feel stifling.

    Learn More >
  • Picket Fence Denver

Picket fencing pairs well with Denver's older bungalow neighborhoods, framing the yard without hiding the mountain backdrop. It adds curb appeal without needing constant upkeep against high-altitude sun, heavy snow, and rapid temperature swings.

    Learn More >
  • Ranch Rail Denver

Ranch rail fencing shows up often on the larger properties outside Denver, where the plains and foothills open into genuine ranch land. The rails hold their line even as high-altitude sun, heavy snow, and rapid temperature swings works on the ground beneath them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Denver uses a tiered permit system: fences 4 feet tall or under require no permit; fences 4 to 6 feet require a zoning permit; fences over 6 feet require an over-height permit; and fences over 8 feet require a Board of Adjustment variance. A permit is also required regardless of height if your property is in a historic district, carries individual landmark status, sits along a designated parkway, or involves a pool barrier. Apply through Denver's e-permits portal or confirm with your local planning and zoning office. Denver's tiered permit system is something we navigate on every project we build here. Call your local Superior Fence & Rail team and we'll identify which permit tier applies to your fence and address.

Denver's Superior Fence & Rail location focuses on the materials that dominate Colorado's market, cedar at roughly 41% of installations, steel at 18%, chain link at 14%, and Trex composite at 10%. Aluminum isn't part of our Denver product line. Cedar is the top choice because its natural oils resist Denver's intense UV radiation at altitude, dry climate, and freeze-thaw cycles. Trex composite is gaining real ground for its low maintenance and wind certification of up to 110 mph sustained winds, ideal for Colorado's Front Range. If you're not sure which material fits your project, our team will walk you through the options during your free estimate.

Denver's Landmark Preservation Commission reviews fence projects in historic districts for compatibility with neighborhood character before any work begins. Materials, height, and style are all evaluated. Meeting the height limit alone is not enough. Front yard fences are generally capped at 48 inches, and the expectation is that new fences reflect simplified versions of historic styles already present in the district. Every exterior change requires design review regardless of how minor it seems. Each property and historic district comes with its own set of considerations, all of which we'll walk through with you in detail during your free estimate.

Check your property's flood zone status at denvergov.org/flood before drafting any fence plans. Denver fence projects near sewer lines must maintain at least 2 feet of clearance, and fences cannot be built over underground utility lines. Properties along designated Denver parkways require approval from Denver Parks and Recreation in addition to standard permits. Cherry Creek's corridor through central Denver and the South Platte River flood control zone both have development restrictions that affect fence placement in nearby neighborhoods. Always call 811 before any post digging in Denver.

Denver's Mile High location brings UV radiation roughly 25% more intense than at sea level, combined with low humidity and Front Range Chinook winds that regularly gust over 50 mph. These conditions accelerate wood fading and cracking in untreated materials. Cedar's natural oils provide the best protection for wood fencing at Denver's altitude. Trex composite is engineered to resist UV fading and comes wind-certified, making it a strong low-maintenance option. Call 811 before any post digging, Denver's dry conditions make underground utility lines particularly easy to miss.

  • The installation team for Superior Fence and Rail was fantastic.

“The installation team for Superior Fence and Rail was fantastic. I have a landscaped yard and they worked with me to protect the plants along the fence line. They also consulted me whenever they had to make big decisions (like working around an irrigation pipe) so we could come up with a solution that worked for the installation crew as well as for me, the homeowner.”

    Amy P.

  • It was a professional and efficient fence installation.

“It was a professional and efficient fence installation. I was told what was going to happen when and checked with whenever a decision was needed. The fence was just what we hoped for and replaced a previously poorly installed fence. The difference made it obvious how well the installation went.”

“Fantastic experience. The communication and coordination was excellent throughout, and the installation was on-time and the fence looks great! Worth noting that Superior Fence also beat the quotes of competitors, which was a bonus.”

  • The fence buying process is not an easy one and for someone who is a little OCD and Type A, its definitely not easy.

“The fence buying process is not an easy one and for someone who is a little OCD and Type A, its definitely not easy. While I would prefer to give a three-star review here, I'm choosing four and here's why. We worked with Warren in the sales process. He came to our property and we had a great conversation about the potential project and received a quote within 24 hours. The price came in as the lowest of five quotes by about $1K. I liked how Warren described the process of the project and since we were dealing with a time crunch for an upcoming event on our property, he did his best to schedule us with enough of a window to have the project done in time and still give us a moment to make sure clean up and repairs were done. After presenting this quote to our neighbors, changes needed to be applied. Unfortunately, this is where the three-stars comes into play. Communication with Warren was difficult after the initial quote was sent over. Days would go between communications and with as frustrating as that was, I knew that the price-point was where we needed it to be...so we stuck it out. For example, after the initial quote was reviewed, we needed to add more work to the quote. This was requested on a Thursday with no response until the following Tuesday after two follow ups. This happened twice in the process and the second time I had to piggyback off a communication from their office staff to get Warren to respond - this was after we had signed the quote and were a "client". To say this was frustrating is an understatement. This was a multi-thousand dollar project, involving multiple neighbors who had questions I could not answer. More on this later... Now to where the four stars comes into play. Once the project started, I was introduced to Bryce, our project manager. Bryce brought a level of confidence to the project that I as a customer needed. He also brought two dedicated workers that busted their butts in 90+ degree weather. Bryce walked me through the project, expectations, and clarified specific aspects of the project so that his guys could be prepared. They started demo right away and made sure to be careful around our younger shrubs along our property line. After a day of demo with a lot of concrete removal, construction began and went a lot faster than I expected. Unfortunately, this is where we found Warren's lack of communication again. And let me be clear here, I'm not trying to drive a bus over him. My point is for future customers to know what can happen if you don't stay on top of project comms. During our initial walkthrough before the quote, I made it very clear that we live in a wind-heavy area of Jefferson County with strong west winds and that the fence needed spacers in between pickets to allow flow. Apparently this was not communicated to Bryce and therefore not communicated to his crew. Since I was not paying attention to the work details of the early morning, I missed this and the whole west side was constructed without spacers. Not the end of the world, but not what was discussed during the sales process. After this was brought up to Bryce, he acknowledged it wasn't communicated to him and we moved on. The rest of the project went well, despite a few construction hiccups that tend to always happen. We worked around them as best as could despite language barriers with the crew. After the construction was finished, there were a few spots that needed to be fixed - poor quality lumber, missed cuts, uneven picket placement. Nothing too crazy at all. Bryce scheduled the repair team to come out in time for our event. As soon as the repair team arrived, they left due to an emergency and lo and behold, here comes Bryce. For the next few hours, on a Friday afternoon, Bryce worked on a section of the fence that needed help. His attention to detail, humor, and work ethic is what I really took away from this project. Not to take away from the work his crew did, but his leadership on the project alone gives this four stars...five stars is hard to come by.”

  • Great service on the tear down and install!

“Great service on the tear down and install! Would recommend.”

  • We were happy with many aspects of this project.

“We were happy with many aspects of this project. What went well: The contracting process, the price (compared very favorably to a competitor), the timeliness and quality of the work, including cleanup when the job was over, and the friendliness of the work crew. Superior also handled a contract amendment issue that came up during the work well. What didn't go so well: Communications. We had to do the contract amendment because the wood posts as delivered did not look like the posts in the proposal, in that the photos did not show that you would be able to see the metal core of the posts from the outside. There was also some confusion about when workers doing the concluding work would arrive. One crew leader did not speak English. One crew installed a combination lock on one handle but left without giving us the code. A return visit was needed.”

    Jerry T.

Denver Fence Company

Clear communication, seasoned fencing professionals, and lasting materials

Some fence companies will hand you a quote before they’ve even walked your yard. That’s not how we work. Superior Fence & Rail has built its reputation as a fence company in Denver by actually showing up, asking the right questions, and delivering work that holds up season after season in a climate that isn’t always forgiving.

You’ll have a real point of contact through the whole project. Not a call center. Not a form that disappears into a queue. Someone who knows your job and can answer when you call.

Fence Company Near Me in Denver

We work throughout the Denver metro, and the range is wider than most people expect. Washington Park, Sunnyside, Baker, Capitol Hill, Sloan’s Lake are all regular stops for our crews. So is Cherry Creek, Central Park, and Green Valley Ranch out east. Further out, we cover Montbello, Globeville, and communities along the I-70 corridor, plus surrounding areas including Lakewood, Englewood, Arvada, Aurora, and Westminster. If you’re trying to figure out whether we come to your part of town, the answer is probably yes.

Denver Fence Contractor

Here’s something most homeowners don’t find out until after they’ve hired the wrong company: Denver’s clay soil moves. A lot. The freeze-thaw cycles from November through March will heave a poorly set post right out of the ground, and by spring you’ve got a fence that leans like it’s tired. As a fence contractor in Denver, our crews know the ground here because they’ve worked in it. Post depth, concrete mix, setting technique — those details matter in this climate and we don’t cut corners on them.

HOAs across the metro add another layer to manage. Stapleton-era communities in Central Park, newer developments out in Green Valley Ranch, and established neighborhoods around Washington Park each have their own rules about height, material, color, and gate placement. We’ve dealt with enough of them to know what the approval process usually looks like and what paperwork tends to hold things up.

Denver Fence Builder

We start every project with an on-site visit because a phone call can only tell us so much. Slopes, irrigation lines, tree roots close to the fence line, shared property boundaries with a neighbor who has opinions. Those things don’t show up on a satellite image. Once we’ve walked the property and taken measurements, we put together an accurate estimate and help you pick the material and style that actually fits the space. Scheduling gets confirmed, materials get pulled, and we don’t show up to your job without everything we need to finish it. Denver’s weather creates real scheduling pressure in the shoulder seasons, and we take that seriously.

Denver Fence Installation

Nobody wants a crew parked in their driveway for three days while the job drags out. Good fence installation comes down to preparation, and ours starts well before the crew arrives at your property. We’ll reach out ahead of the job to confirm timing, walk through what you need to have ready on your end, and make sure there are no surprises on installation day.

Most residential projects wrap in a single day. The crew works clean, protects your landscaping where they can, and hauls out the debris before they leave. If something unexpected comes up mid-job, like a buried line that shifted the plan or a gate measurement that needs adjusting, you’ll hear about it before anyone keeps moving, not after the fact.

Denver Fence Financing

A full fence replacement or a new perimeter installation is a real cost, and for a lot of property owners that makes the timing harder than the decision itself. If budget is the thing holding the project back, our fence financing options give you a way to spread payments over time without waiting until you’ve saved the full amount. Terms vary, there’s no pressure to use it, and the process is simpler than most people expect. It’s just another way to get the project done now instead of next year.

Denver Fencing Options

The material question comes up fast once you start planning, and in Denver the answer isn’t always obvious. Vinyl is low maintenance and handles the dry climate well, which is why you see it everywhere in HOA communities that want a uniform look without the upkeep burden. Cedar and redwood both perform better over time than pressure-treated pine in Colorado’s conditions. They hold stain longer and resist the cracking that comes with drastic humidity swings. For privacy fencing in older neighborhoods like Sunnyside or Baker, wood still tends to match the character of the block in a way that vinyl doesn’t quite replicate.

Steel fencing is worth a serious look if you want something that holds its shape and its finish over years of Colorado sun and temperature swings, especially around pools and commercial properties where longevity matters more than the upfront cost. Chain link is still the practical choice for large lots, dog runs, and commercial properties where function matters more than aesthetics. We also install Trex composite, pool fence, dog fence, gates and entry systems, and railing for decks and stairs. Browse our fence styles to start narrowing down what fits your property.

Superior Fence & Rail Wants to Be Your Denver Fence Installation Contractor

There are a lot of fence companies operating in this metro, and we’re not going to tell you we’re the only one worth calling. What we will tell you is that our crews know Denver, our process is built around keeping you informed, and we stand behind the work after we’ve left your property. Whether you’re managing an HOA job in Central Park, replacing a backyard fence in Washington Park, or putting up a commercial perimeter in Englewood, we’re ready to put together a plan that fits the property and the budget. Reach out to contact our Denver team and request a free estimate. We’ll take it from there.
